YUP!
I really don't have anything to say. I re-PS3'd myself yesterday (now with backwards compatibility and an extra 40gigs!) and I started playing Metal Gear Solid 4 last night, with an all-weekend session to follow. I'm also going to a local park where they show a movie on a huge inflatable screen every Friday- this week it's Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Very cool. I am sad it is going to cut into MGS4 time, but I think this is a good example of my effort to be more sociable instead of locking myself in my house all the time. It is a great sacrifice. But I'll probably be playing it once I get home until the sun comes up anyway.
Oh yeah: So far, it's freaking awesome, btw.
New 2D Sonic Game?

Playstation 3 Junior-Reviews

If you’re not into videogames or guys talking about videogames, move along. With schoolwork and regular work occupying the majority of my days, not too many people I know in town, and still in perma-grin mode with my new TV, I have understandably spent a lot of down-time with it. Gamefly has been kind enough to send me games to play, and play them I have. Much like the post I did with short Wii reviews, I’m going to run through the games I’ve been playing with some thoughts, likely about those games. Read more
Super Stardust HD is Awesome.

It’s like Geometry Wars, only more better. I suck at it, unfortunately. Dro is much better, being on the Leaderboards and whatnot. But I have the ability to suck at a game and still enjoy it. I wish I had something more substantial to say, but work and school monopolize not only my time but my thought functions. Not only do I have nothing in my life to write about besides the games I’m playing in my fleeting hours of off-time, but I can’t even coherently discuss (or maybe even comprehend) half of the news I read everyday online. It all flows into my think-processor-humidor and gets lost in the ether and I continue to be spaced out. It’s possible that my brain is dying.
I also picked up The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion yesterday, because clearly when my brain is fried and I have no real free time, it’s an obvious choice. It was probably a bad move.
Passing The Time Post: Why I Miss My Internet

There are a lot of reasons for me to miss having internet at home: Being able to do schoolwork from my bed; news and forums are a click away; late night chats with friends who sleep during the day; Guitar Hero 3 online battles; torrents of everything; but the thing I miss the most is an MMO I only got a meager taste of: EVE Online.
God, I miss EVE Online so much. Basically Homeworld mixed with business economics, it combines strategic and beautiful space battles with running an interstellar business. Upgrading from a tiny scout to massive battleships, conducting raids with your other company members, all the different stats and item upgrades… building the business up to having it’s own spacestation, defending your resources from pirates… BEING one of those pirates and just cruising the solar systems causing chaos… I MISS IT. And I only played it for two weeks, so I barely had any kind of decent character. If there is one thing that has me chewing my lip, looking for a way for me to get the internet back at my home, it is this game. I want it back. So bad.
GAMES GET.

So after trading in some games, I had about $70 of credit. So I grabbed both Trauma Center: New Blood for the Wii and Disgaea for the PSP. Both are awesome, and responsible for me not posting that Daft Punk review I mentioned earlier. After the break, early Caturday bonanza as apology. Also, the token banner for the death of Happycat. Have a nice weekend, internet. Read more
Super Mario Galaxy is Awesome.

So I spent a good portion of last night being unable to put Super Mario Galaxy down. This game is so much pure unadulterated fun it’s almost too much to handle. The graphics are pretty, the level design is crazy-creative, I love the gravity-based gameplay, and there are so many throwbacks to classic Mario music.
Above is a screenshot I found on the internets of the level I ended my session with last night, and probably my favorite “galaxy” so far. You go from apple-planet to apple-planet, stomping on blocks to make the worm pop out and create a winding bridge to the next apple. I’m suffering from serious withdrawl right now, and I’m desperately trying to get all my online crap done so I can go home and spend all night playing it again. I’d go into more details about the game, but I’m probably writing the Netjak.com review of it, so I’m going to hold most of my thoughts back aside from “It rules.” If you have a Wii, you should totally buy it. It’s the best parts of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine with crazy level design.
Sony, Microsoft Never Really Cared About Next-Gen DVD?

Last I checked, the inclusion of the Blu-Ray player in the PS3 was Sony’s attempt to emulate the PS2’s success. Millions of people picked up the PS2 because it was a cheap DVD player when the price on standalones had yet to drop. We’re in a similar situation now, where Blu-Ray players are pretty expensive, and a PS3 is a cheaper alternative for those looking for hi-def DVD players. However, a study showed that 40% of PS3 owners didn’t even know it could play Blu-Ray movies. Microsoft, sitting in the HD-DVD camp, has the HD-DVD player add-on for the Xbox360. It would appear that both Sony and Microsoft were using their consoles to promote their pick for the next-generation of DVD.
Or ARE THEY?

Guitar Hero 3

Good news! I found something to replace my smoking addiction! It’s the good ol’ Guitar Hero addiction I had kicked for a few months! I’ve relapsed like a bad heroin addict, and it’s wonderful.
DAMN YOU, LUMINES!!!

So my cheap, piece-of-crap-technology UMD of Ridge Racer broke, just like the copy I had those few years back. Ridiculous. Luckily, it was still in the return period, so I traded it for a fresh copy of Lumines II, which is just as evil and addicting as the original. It kept me up until 4 am last night. Four-freaking-A.M. That’s almost six hours of Lumines I was playing, pretty much without a break. God, that is sad (also, wonderful). What’s worse is I had homework to do that night and class this morning. Missed class, but aced the homework. Such is life with Lumines in your pocket.
Nintendo Wii Junior-Reviews
So when I’m not doing homework or watching Heroes, Dexter, Weeds, Stargate Atlantis, or Jericho, I’ve been playing my new Wii. I figured in an effort to get some content on this blog I would write some quick thoughts on what I’ve been playing, since I have been extremely irresponsible and picking up games left and right. Check’em out. Read more
Microsoft Press Conference - Focus on 2007

Microsoft opts out of hyping the future of the Xbox 360 and makes a strong (albeit boring) argument for the here and now.

E3 Begins - Opinions and Junk To Follow
![]()
E3’s swinging into gear, and while I’m not fortunate enough to attend, this week promises to be a plethora of news for gaming and I’ll be posting impressions from the Big Three’s press conferences, along with a wrap-up with the biggest stories and my opinions on them as the conference winds down. Just because it’s not a spectacle this year doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of big announcements and things to talk about. As of now, I’m mostly looking forward to news on Metroid Prime 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 (possibly going multi-platform?), Killzone 2, and hopefully a price drop on the Xbox 360. We’ll see how happy I am at the end of the week.
Hypocrite alert: Sony tells PSP devs to get creative

SCEE game director Tony Buckley says PSP developers need to get more creative, and “create something that attracts people to PSP” in an interview with CVG.
This tickles me. Sony’s history of arrogance and the general atmosphere of the PSP (a tiny, portable console) encouraged ports of console titles with minimal changes. When Sony themselves discouraged creativity with solid but unimaginative console-ish titles like Wipeout Pure and Daxter, hearing a Sony employee now practically begging developers to try new things with the handheld seems hypocritical at best.
